Why it matters
Ever Fresh uses ultra-absorbent microgranules that form smaller, tighter clumps. Fresh Step says it absorbs 50% more liquid and odor, so the litter lasts 50% longer between changes.
Activated charcoal, Ammonia Block Technology and Febreze freshness give 21 days of odor control, per Fresh Step. The listing is two 16 lb boxes.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Multi-cat homes
- Owners who want fewer changes
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Small, tight clumps
- Longer-lasting claim
- 21-day odor claim
Cons
- Scented
- Heavy boxes
- Not flushable
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Scented litters can put off some cats; if your cat avoids the box after a change, try an unscented formula.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
