Why it matters
Cat Attract uses the same hard-clumping bentonite base as Dr. Elsey's other clays, blended with a natural herbal attractant. Dr. Elsey's aims it at litter box problems: bringing cats back to the box.
It's 99% dust-free and hypoallergenic per the maker, and the medium grain keeps tracking down. If a cat is avoiding the box suddenly, a vet check comes first; litter changes are one part of the fix.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Cats avoiding the box
- Newly adopted cats
- Transitions to a new box
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Herbal attractant
- Hard clumps
- Low dust
Cons
- 40 lb bag
- Not flushable
- Attractant scent noticeable to some
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
- Sudden box avoidance can signal a health problem; see a vet before relying on a litter change.
