Why it matters
COCOYO's silica gel micro-crystals absorb urine and dry solid waste; one bag lasts up to 30 days in a single-cat home, per COCOYO. The maker says a 4.3 lb bag gives the same uses as a 15 lb bag of clumping litter.
It's unscented, low tracking and 99% dust-free. The listing is a value pack of four 4.3 lb bags.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Single-cat homes
- Crystal-pan users
- Owners who want light bags
Look elsewhere if
- Clumping-only self-cleaning boxes
- Cats that dislike crunchy texture
- Owners who prefer to scoop clumps
Pros and cons
Pros
- Unscented
- Up to 30 days per bag
- Light bags
Cons
- Crunchy texture
- Not for clumping-only boxes
- Shorter life with more cats
Limitations to weigh
- Crystal litter suits crystal-tray boxes such as the ScoopFree and boxes whose maker lists crystal litter; most clumping-only globes reject it.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
- Stir daily; replace when crystals turn yellow and stop absorbing.
