Why it matters
Free and Clean LightWeight pairs Purina's 50%-lighter formula with activated charcoal and no fragrance or dyes. It forms tight, strong clumps and is 99.9% dust-free.
Purina gives it 21-day odor control against ammonia when used as directed, for single or multi-cat homes.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Scent-sensitive cats
- Apartments and stairs
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Crystal-tray boxes
- Flushing
- Owners who want the hardest clumps
Pros and cons
Pros
- Unscented
- 50% lighter
- Charcoal
Cons
- Lighter clumps
- Not flushable
- Smaller box
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
- The bag weight is what you carry, not how long it lasts; lighter formulas cover the same use with less weight.
