Why it matters
This Tidy Cats formula uses TidyLock protection to lock away strong ammonia, urine and fecal smells, and it absorbs moisture to keep cats comfortable. It forms strong, tight clumps for scooping.
At 20 lb, the box is easier to handle than the 38 lb Tidy Cats boxes.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Multi-cat homes
- Owners who want a smaller box
- Self-cleaning boxes that take clumping litter
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who want a light bag
- Flushing (clay isn't flushable)
- Crystal-tray boxes
Pros and cons
Pros
- Tight clumps
- Manageable 20 lb
- Odor lock
Cons
- Scented
- Not flushable
- Fewer details on dust
Limitations to weigh
- In a self-cleaning box, use it only where the box's maker accepts clumping litter; most globe and open-top boxes do, crystal-tray boxes don't.
- Scented litters can put off some cats; if your cat avoids the box after a change, try an unscented formula.
- Switch litters gradually by mixing in the new one over about a week; abrupt changes can put cats off the box.
