Where to put a cat camera

High, out of paw reach, facing where your cat spends time.

By Felineering Editorial · Updated October 2026

The short answer

Mount or place the camera high and out of paw reach, facing the spots your cat uses most: feeder, fountain, litter area, favorite window. A pan-tilt camera covers a whole room; a fixed one is best aimed at one spot.

Placement tips

  • Avoid pointing at windows; glare washes out night vision.
  • Keep cords out of reach.
  • Use a shelf or wall mount cats can't knock over.

Pan-tilt or fixed

  • Pan-tilt for whole rooms: Tapo C200 pans 360° and tilts 114°.
  • Fixed for one spot: Tapo C120 with pet detection.
  • Mobile robots for whole homes: Enabot EBO SE.
